Poochr Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 15, 2026

Poochr (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a social networking app that helps dog owners discover nearby dogs, arrange playdates, share posts, join groups, and message other members. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Poochr, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 18 years old to use Poochr.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide and information generated when you use the app:

  • Account information: email address; password (stored as a one-way hash); Google, Apple, or Facebook account identifiers when you sign in with those providers; and related provider email when available (including Apple’s private relay email).
  • Profile information: dog name, human names, breeds, age stage, sex, size, altered status, energy level, self-reported vaccination status, bio, play styles, temperament tags, awards, Instagram username, and other profile fields you choose to add.
  • Home Base: the neighborhood label and the latitude/longitude you set so we can show nearby dogs and calculate distance. When the app reads your device location it asks for approximate location only. Device location is used only when you choose to set or update Home Base (or search for an address); we do not continuously track your device.
  • Favorite places: places you save (which may include place names, addresses, and coordinates from Google Places).
  • Photos and videos you upload for your profile, feed posts (including video thumbnails), group thumbnails, or optional support screenshots.
  • User content: posts, comments, reactions, tags, @mentions, Tail Wags, matches, one-to-one and group messages, group membership, and invites.
  • Reports and support: profile/post report reasons and details; support tickets (problems and feedback) and optional attached photos.
  • Notifications: Expo/FCM/APNs push tokens and your notification preference settings.
  • Purchases: subscription plan status, product identifiers, store, and expiration synced via RevenueCat and the App Store / Google Play. Payment card details are handled by Apple or Google, not by us.
  • Technical and usage data: approximate device/app diagnostics needed to operate and secure the service (for example API errors), and crash and performance diagnostics (error messages, stack traces, device model, operating system and app version). Crash reports are linked only to a random account identifier; we remove email addresses, sign-in tokens, message text and location before they are sent. We do not use third-party advertising analytics SDKs.

How We Use Your Information

  • Create and manage your account, verify email, and reset passwords.
  • Power Nearby discovery, Tail Wags, matches, messaging, the feed, groups, and blocking.
  • Show other members your public profile details (dog and human names, photos, neighborhood, distance, and other profile fields you provide). We never share your Home Base coordinates with other members: distances are calculated from an approximate area of about 0.7 mi (about 1 km) around your Home Base and rounded, so other members only learn roughly how far away you are.
  • Deliver push and in-app notifications you allow.
  • Process subscriptions and restore purchases through Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
  • Host and deliver media via our cloud storage provider.
  • Moderate content, process reports, and respond to support requests.
  • Keep members safe: detect, review, and remove illegal or harmful content, including child sexual abuse material, and report it to the authorities as required by law.
  • Improve reliability, fix bugs, and protect against abuse or fraud.
  • Comply with law and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.

How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Other members can see profile and content you share in the community. If you share a feed post, a public web page may show the post media, dog name, human names, and like/comment counts without requiring login.

We share information with service providers that help us operate Poochr, including:

  • Cloud hosting and database providers (application data).
  • Amazon Web Services S3 (and optional CDN) for photos and videos.
  • Resend for transactional email (verification, password reset, account notices).
  • Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) for crash and error diagnostics in the app, website and servers.
  • MapTiler for maps and address search; Google Places for favorite-place search.
  • Expo, Apple, and Google for push delivery.
  • Google, Apple, and Meta/Facebook when you use their sign-in.
  • RevenueCat plus Apple App Store / Google Play for subscriptions.

Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may preserve and disclose information when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process (such as a subpoena or court order), to respond to lawful requests from public authorities, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Poochr, our members, or others, or to investigate fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms.

As required by U.S. law, we report apparent child sexual abuse material, and the related account information, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which may share reports with law enforcement.

If Poochr is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction and will remain subject to this Privacy Policy.

Public Sharing and Visibility

Content you post to the community feed may be shared via a public link. Treat anything you post as potentially visible outside the app. You can delete your posts or your account; cached copies (for example social-media previews) may persist briefly elsewhere.

Retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account record and associated personal data from our primary systems, including profile, posts you authored, comments and reactions, matches and messages, group memberships (owned groups transfer or dissolve), notifications about you, push tokens, and media under your user storage prefix, subject to reasonable technical delays and backups.

We may retain limited records when required by law (for example transaction records), needed to resolve disputes, or necessary for security and fraud prevention. Store subscription billing records remain with Apple or Google.

Reports you file or that are filed about you keep a copy of the reported message, comment or group so our team can review it, even if the content is later deleted. If we ban an account for serious or repeated violations, we keep the email address and sign-in identifiers needed to stop it from signing up again, even after the account is deleted.

Children’s Privacy and Child Safety

Poochr is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, including children under 13. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Poochr has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). If we find or are told about child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or the exploitation of a minor, we remove it, permanently ban the accounts involved, preserve the relevant information, and report it to NCMEC and to law enforcement as required by law. See our Child Safety Standards at poochr.com/child-safety.

Your Choices and Rights

  • Edit your profile and notification preferences in the app.
  • Delete your account anytime under Account Settings → Delete Account.
  • Request a copy of your personal information under Account Settings → Request My Data. We email a JSON export to the address on your account (usually within minutes). You can also email us.
  • Turn off location access or push notifications at any time in your device settings. Location is only needed to set Home Base; the rest of the app keeps working.
  • California and other U.S. state residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information. To exercise rights, use in-app controls or email us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
  • We respond to verified requests within 30 days (or within the time your local law allows, such as 45 days under some U.S. state laws). If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer or emailing us.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards (including encrypted transport in production, hashed passwords, and access controls). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

International Users

Poochr is operated from the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your information to provide the service you signed up for (performance of a contract), with your consent (such as device location and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time), for our legitimate interests (keeping Poochr safe and secure, preventing fraud and abuse, moderating content, and improving the service), and to comply with legal obligations. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your information, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. The “Last Updated” date at the top shows when it last changed.
